Who We Are

Welcome to DeeKay Products, your first choice supplier of Gazelle Brand bonded leather products to the trade. Here, at our purpose built modern factory, located by the side of Logwood Mill Brook in Huyton, Merseyside, Gazelle Brand bonded leather products are manufactured, printed and distributed throughout the UK, and further afield too.

Harris Associates was established in 1976 by David and Kathleen Harris, who quickly adopted the trading name ‘DeeKay Products’. Since 1976, four generations of the Harris family have worked to build up the business to its present position. ln 2011 we registered the brand name “Gazelle”, to set our wares apart from similar products from other sources. Then in August 2020 Harris Associates became a Limited Liability Partnership with a new name, and DeeKay Products is now a trading name of Select Business Group LLP. Ownership and management of the new entity remains with the Harris family, and our commitments and standards remain unchanged and unchallenged. Our emphasis has always been on quality – fine quality products, excellent value for money, and meticulous customer service.

More recently we have launched a new range of luxury presentation boxes, available from stock in a range of sizes and colours. These have been developed to meet a growing need for the enhanced and perfect presentation of multiple promotional items.

What We Do

Gazelle Brand bonded leather is a recycled material created from waste leather fibres. Offcuts of real leather from the bag-making and shoe-making industries are shredded into very fine fibres, mixed with a bonding agent, and rolled into sheets of uniform quality and thickness. The resulting sheets are approximately 80% leather and 20% bonding agent. The material is variously described as bonded leather, recycled leather, reconstituted leather, leather board, or substitute leather. The quality of the product depends upon the quality of the leather fibres used in its manufacture. We always use first quality leather board.

The sheets are coated with a beautifully coloured lacquer finish, to which a fine pinseal leather grain is applied. For coasters, place mats, board room mats and similar items, 1.5mm leather board is laminated to a 2mm thick high quality cork composite material. A slightly thinner 1.2mm bonded leather is used for bookmarks and similar products. The thinnest sheets of bonded leather – which come in the form of rolls – are used as book covering materials, in the manufacture of conference folders, menu covers, and similar items.

ln the next stage of manufacture, individual products are cut out of large sheets on a hydraulic press. Finally, individual products are gold or silver foil blocked using semi- automatic foiling machines. The process involves heat and pressure. A brass or magnesium die transfers the design from gold or silver foil on to the product, typically at a temperature of 1100C and pressure of 80 PSl.
